Overview

TRC is seeking multiple Transportation Engineers to join our team in Fresno, CA supporting District 6. These engineers will perform various transportation engineering tasks of average difficulty accomplished through understanding and applying Caltrans standards, manuals, guidelines, policies, directives and computer software applications. Travel is required. Employee is required to have a current California driver-s license, when operating a state-owned vehicle or driving another vehicle for state business.


Responsibilities

  • Performing or guiding the design and technical analysis of the project(s) assigned. Makes sound decisions on technical problems and methods related to the work being performed based on established engineering principles and guidelines, and supervisory guidance.
  • Serves as project engineer, defining the scope of the project, developing budget and schedule estimates, performing feasibility studies, managing staff, and providing training.
  • Monitoring project progress status, compliance with approved scope, and informing all parties of the same.
  • Reviewing proposed changes for impact on the project design, budget or schedule.
  • Preparing reports and presentations that provide raw technical data in a concise and comprehensible manner.
  • Consults with clients, engineers within other departments, and external project team members as a representative regarding assigned projects. Acts as the point of contact for inquiries regarding the project.
  • Completes documentation of projects accurately and timely.
  • May act as a technical providing training and outside presentations to clients, peers, and engineering community.
  • Duties include the development, coordination, and review of engineering plans, specifications, estimates and reports, for highway, freeway, and transportation facility projects.
  • Development of plans include producing and reviewing layouts, profiles, typical sections, title sheets, super elevation diagrams, drainage, construction details, grading, utilities, traffic striping, stage construction, detours, and quantity summaries. Provide review of technical studies, reports and packages produced by local agencies, developers, permit applicants and their consultants, for compliance with design standards and engineering principles.
  • Produce and review project hydraulic design analysis and studies, storm water data reports, prepare and assemble contract specifications and documents for ready to list (RTL) submittal.
  • Coordination of safety, constructability and value analysis review meetings, review and provide comments on project plans and estimates to assess completeness and to correct errors and deficiencies and to develop or improve the final plans, specifications - estimate (PS-E) product. Provide CADD support and training for various design software, user best practices, resolution of issues pertaining to computerized design, plotter support, file support, and computer related equipment inventory management.

Qualifications

  • Must possess a valid certificate of registration as a civil engineer issued by the California State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers.
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience performing transportation related engineering work; or equivalent education and experience.
  • Caltrans and Local Transportation Agency Design Experience
  • Solid project management skills; able to critically analyze and creatively solve issues.
  • Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to plan and direct the work of subordinates; effectively supervise, coach and train.
  • Proficient with related software and tools required to complete all job duties, including Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and MicroStation.
  • Must have knowledge of basic principles of physics, chemistry, and mathematics as applied to civil engineering; transportation facility planning and design principles. The knowledge of engineering surveying, methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in construction and maintenance of transportation facilities, and the methods of proportioning and handling Portland Cement Concrete and asphalt concrete.
Compensation: In accordance with local law, the following compensation range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition: $73,000-$102,000. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, and other compensable factors.

Salary Range

USD $73,000.00 - USD $102,000.00 /Yr.
