Within Azure Data, the databases team builds and maintains Microsoft's operational Database systems. We store and manage data in a structured way to enable multitude of applications across various industries. We are on a journey to enable developer friendly, mission-critical, AI enabled operational Databases across relational, non-relational and Open Source Software (OSS) offerings.The Azure SQL team in Azure Data at Microsoft is responsible for Azure SQL DB, SQL MI, SQL VM (IaaS) cloud services, SQL Server on-prem and Arc enabled SQL Server. Together they power many of the worlds mission critical databases and are deployed by most of the Fortune 1000 companies. A key part of the database experience are the client Software Development Kits (SDK) we provide developers for connecting to the SQL family of databases all the way from on-premises to the cloud. These SDK's span a variety of languages and frameworks such as Python, Java, C++, C# and related object relational mapping frameworks. We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer for a team whose primary responsibility will be to continue to enhance these client drivers and SDK's and work with program and product managers to develop new data APIs' that empower developers to seamlessly integrate Azure SQL databases into modern web, mobile and microservice applications. ResponsibilitiesIn this position, you will work with a team of engineers to design, implement, and maintain features in one of the above mentioned SDK's or develop a new SDK as the need arises. As a senior engineer you will have the opportunity to develop excellent design skills and grow as an engineer and technical leader to mentor and ramp up new hires. You will work closely with program and product managers to ensure we are prioritizing the right customer asks. You will improve and monitor telemetry to assess the health of the product in both pre-release as well as released software and use this data to drive improvements into the quality of the product.Effective communication and cross group collaboration skills.
