From your PASSION to ours

The Maintenance Reliability Engineer is responsible for the project management of design and construction of water, sewer, gas, ammonia, steam, and electrical system projects. The Maintenance Reliability Engineer will also partner with the Maintenance Department to identify machine reliability issues and collaboratively work to resolve them. In addition, this role will work with a variety of contractors and subcontractors to ensure that these systems are built in an efficient and safe manner.

Key responsibilities for this position include:

  • Review plans for new construction projects to ensure that they comply with local codes and regulations.
  • Conduct research and analysis of existing utility systems to determine if improvements are required and feasible.
  • Plan and design new utility systems, such as water and sewer lines, or power lines.
  • Partner with contractors to develop plans for new construction projects and review plans to ensure that they meet engineering standards.
  • Partner with contractors to coordinate project startup and ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Conduct inspections at construction sites to ensure that work is progressing according to plans.
  • Perform required testing of equipment to ensure that it is working properly.
  • Manage facility and utilities improvement projects, equipment modifications and upgrades.
  • Provide engineering support to Plant operations (overall facilities, utilities, equipment, etc.) and lead plant shutdowns.
  • Schedule and coordinate adequate coverage for the department, depending on the business needs.
  • Partner with Engineering Manger to create facilities operating / capital budgets in accordance with production forecast and site objectives.
  • Provide engineering support to operations and maintenance teams on various Utilities and Production equipment and systems.
  • Initiate and implement capital improvement projects with a focus on Utilities/Power and Maintenance/Reliability.
  • Partner with EHS Manager to develop and implement management systems to improve Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) compliance.
  • Ensure EHS compliance of equipment (including safe and environmentally compliant operation).
  • Support site safety and training initiatives (maintain maintenance / engineering job procedures, participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) incident investigations).

Qualified applicants will contribute the following:


Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline is required.
  • 5 + years' project engineering experience in facilities, utilities, and production machinery

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office applications is required.
  • Sound technical leadership and in-depth knowledge of plant utility system interdependencies.
  • Demonstrated ability to design new systems, troubleshoot and determine root cause of problems, implement corrective and preventative actions and provide optimization strategies for utility systems.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects in a changing, complex environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and proven attention to detail.
  • Acclimates and adapts to business acumen quickly and able to think strategically as demonstrated through prior experience.
  • Demonstrates well-developed written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to establish highly functional relationships with diverse personalities, both within and outside the company.
  • Strong financial and budgetary skills.
  • Strong project management skills with experience managing contractor relationships and driving results during project execution.
  • Team player with the ability to create and foster cross functional relationships both internally and externally.
  • Demonstrated project management skills, including development and writing of equipment specifications, user requirement specifications, performance requirements, cost analysis, capital projects (DA's) and proposal for integrating new machinery-utilities into the site.
